The 'Drôme des Collines'
North
of the Drôme valley lies a rather different Drôme - a land of hills, greener
and more mysterious. Its softly rounded shapes drop gently down from the slopes
of the Lower Dauphiné and the Vercors to the valleys of the Rhône and Isère which mark its
boundaries. The 'Drôme des Collines' is a land of forests, orchards and
vineyards, halfway between mountain and plain, between Alps and Provence.
Be
sure to visit the Palais Idéal du facteur Cheval at Hauterives, go through the
Tain-l’Hermitage vineyards and find out about shoemaking at Romans-sur-Isère.
